Prologue Travelogue Epilogue

I can summarize our 1999 vacation in one sentence: I'm
very proud of our Mt. Kilimanjaro climb, deeply touched by Jane Goodall's lecture, and
really surprised by how German Theresa really is! If you want to find out more about our
unforgettable experience please read the following photo journal.

You have to read this photo journal to see why and when my eyes
welled up with tears. Was is because
- Finally reaching the top of Kilimanjaro
after 7 days of hiking (have never been so nauseated, dirty, tired, sore, cold, and
uncomfortable.)
- Getting this large wood splinter removed from my bleeding hand without
antiseptics and without appropriate surgical instruments
- Listening to Jane Goodall's lecture.
"Every individual matters. Every individual has a role to play. Every
individual makes a difference."
- Enjoying a mineral water bath standing in the huge indoor pool at
Caracalla Therme, Baden-Baden Germany, and reflecting with Theresa on our week-long immersion in German geography, sights, people, culture,
food, and beverage. (Yes, Theresa is now hooked on German Riesling wines. :-)
- Laughing with tears with my
Tanzanian mountain guide Samia as I found out that Celine Dion is one of our favorite
singers!
