Travel GearThis list is largely based on Wilderness Travel's "Serengeti & Kilimanjaro Climb Pre-Departure Information." I hope Wilderness Travel does not mind because their material is copy righted. However, I figure the more people know about the hike the more likely they will climb Kilimanjaro, and the more likely they will use Wilderness Travel. So here it goes. Incidentally, buying outdoor equipment is a sure way to spend a lot of money in a very short time. Yes, I realize that there are cheaper ways to do this; however, I really want to purchase the top-of-the-line equipment and clothing to minimize our suffering. :-) Besides, I always like to shop at REI ( http://www.rei.com/ ); I'm always impressed by how helpful and knowledgeable all the sales people at REI are--even demonstrating how to use and clean a water filter prior to my purchase. Just don't even ask me how many times I've been to REI! :-) Click on the navigation bar to the left to see the items that we are lugging all the way to Africa.
