Day 55: 3/10/99: Baden-Baden
Despite the rain we were happy to be on the road because we did not have
to spend another night at that blasted castle :-)
It was a tough day of driving as Theresa was trying to navigate. I did not
make her job any easier by not having a detailed city map of Stuttgart. Why Stuttgart even
though it was not on our way to Baden Baden? Well, this is the city where Theresa family
came from. We thought it was a good chance for us to discover her roots. Unfortunately we
got lost trying to get to the city center.
Eventually we ended up in this department store at the edge of city. Who
knows? May be some of Theresa distant relatives have shopped here!
Mamooth elephant furniture.
It was a multi-story department store.
Of course, being elephant lovers we liked the store mascot.
Everything was neatly displayed. I don't remember if we bought anything
here. I'll ask Theresa later.
We were driving toward the center of Stuttgart.
See. We were really in Stuttgart. We vowed one of these days to return and
spend more time here.

After all that driving we were happy to get to our hotel in Baden Baden.
It was one of the best places that we have ever stayed. Very fancy. Gee, I cannot wait to
jump in and use the jacuzzi tub.
The suite was spacious and included a sitting area.
We were now experts at traveling with duffel bags.
This nice, comfortable bed was more like staying at a story-book castle,
unlike our previous experience. Notice the nice pillows. Of course, we were ecstatic that
this was a non-smoking room.
From our room we had a nice view of a nearby church.
A little rain did not damper our spirits as we took a stroll around town.
It was nice that our hotel was right

Yummy. Apple studdle ala mode at the place called Amadeus.

What's wrong with this picture. Theresa and I enjoyed a nice bubble bath.
However, we did not know how to turn off the jet after we were done. In fact, the bubble
got larger and more. Finally I called up the front desk and was reliefed to learn that the
jet will turn off automatically after the water is drained more than half way.

A nice view of a church right
outside our window.
We were about to enjoy a
delicious breakfast.
Yummy. I got to fatten
myself some more after our big Kili hike.
A painting of the Little
Prince, the namesake of our romantic hotel.
