 At
the Xi'an airport we were kindly greeted with a sign "Welcome People to
People Ambassador."
|
Our room at the Xi'an hotel was only fair since we were
spoiled by the Kunlun in Beijing.

|
Why is the hotel lobby so smoggy?
|
|
|
We had a quick tour of the city wall, which is the largest
city wall still standing in all of China.

We practiced Chinese calligraphy.

I wrote my name. I always got a "C" in Chinese
calligraphy when I was in elementary school--it's a good thing that penmanship
does not matter for being a successful engineering manager at the U.S. :-)

W took a quick trip to the a small park marking the start of
the Silk Road.

On the western frontier Chinese horsemen played polo!

I explored the neighborhood near our hotel. By chance I
visited this huge exhibition hall.

I was also really impressed by this provincial library that
is not yet open. Wonderful architecture.
