Home Up Day 1 ... Day 6 Day 10 Day 13 Day 14 Day 15 Day 17

Day 6 1/20/99

Spent the entire morning paying bills and in the afternoon running errands, including dropping off the picture of Rondo for framing. Exercised at Club Sport in the evening. It was nice that we received the final document, including the air tickets from Wilderness Travel. Did get the roster of the 15 people who will be going on this trip. I decided to write a letter trying to find out if people have e-mail. Here was Rondo resting on the futon with me:

Look at Rondo's lunch pail at Kamp K9.

Rondo's Kamp K9 Report Kard:

bulletKamper: Rondo         Date: 1/21/99
bulletEnergy Level: Kamikaze Kamper ( ); Basic Bowwow (X); Pooped Pooch ( )
bulletInteraction with other Kampers: Team Player ( ); Cheerleader ( ); Bench Warmer (X)
bulletPlay Friends: Puck
bulletTime Outs: ___ Reasons: Barking; Needed to rest; Get into a tiff; Other ___
bulletOverall Komments: Another 1/2 day recommended. (The first hour he was pretty anxious and ready to go home. He then settled down and even played actively with another dog Puck--some sort of terrier Rondo's size. By the time I picked him up, he was not barking and just having fun, still somewhat hesitantly though.)

So Rondo will get to go back to Kamp K9 next Tue 8:30am to 1pm.

While Rondo was at camp, I had a shopping spree at Long's Drugs to get all the first-aid stuff. I spent $250 in 2 hours, and I sincerely hope I don't have to use any of it. However, I'm prepared just in case. I  had a nice crab sandwich and a tropical delight fruit smoothie in Ice Creamery in Castro Valley. Right before picking up Rondo I went into Wilderness Supplies and bought a Patagonia t-shirt. The store clerk suggested that I wait until early Feb to get my safari clothing. For the whole trip I just need a few more polo shirts and shorts and then I'm all prepared!

Day 8 1/22/99

onbike.jpg (57421 bytes)  I went on my favor bike ride. It's a three-hour, 30-mile ride along the Alameda Creek all the way to the Coyote Hills and the SF Wildlife Refuge. The weather was cool. I even picked up four new water bottles that we can use on our Kili hike. It was a great ride as I listened to some of my favorite CDs. However, I was starving at the end since I had not had lunch yet. My bottoms were also hurting since I have not ridden for a while. (To be honest, Theresa took this picture several months ago, but it's the same idea.)

Day 9 1/23/99

muffins1.jpg (20155 bytes)  breakfast.jpg (50093 bytes)Looked at the nice breakfast we had: Cafe Americano (taught by Alex, and this is the best way to enjoy a cup of coffee; Americano is made with espresso and hot water) and freshly squeezed orange juice. I also baked another one of my favorites: chocolate orange muffins. I also served the muffins at church.

Afterwards both Theresa and I went to Club Sport and had a sports massage. Felt very good. I'm now spoiled.

For dinner we went to Farallon in San Francisco: (  http://www.citysearch7.com/E/V/SFOCA/0010/05/48/cs1.html ) It's California coastal cuisine: lots of great seafood. Look at the jellyfish motif hanging on the ceiling. Theresa was about to enjoy giant gulf prawns wrapped in porscuitto, and I had a delicious Atlantic bass. Fortunately we saved room for a luscious chocolate fondue for dessert.
