Day 14 1/28/99:
The highlight of the day was attending SBI (Success Beyond Injury) dinner/auction gala
at Lou's Village in San Jose.
Are these keys to the exotic vacation at Kauai? (Click on the image for

Jan Hutchins, the previous sportscaster but turned Mayor of
City of Los Gatos, is announcing someone's first evening of retirement! They generously
donated their beautiful Carmel house as one of the auction prizes. We stayed there a
couple years ago during the AT&T pro-am golf tournament. After some serious bidding
during the live auction, we thought we will let another couple have the pleasure of
staying in Carmel.

This is the closest Theresa will ever get to #16 Joe Montana of the San
Francisco 49ers. At the silent auction Theresa successfully bid on a 3-card plaque, a
signed pin collection with stats, and a limited edition print. It's a pity that there is
no dinner for two with Joe and Jennifer. I better tell Theresa about this WEB site
created by Joe's parents! ( http://www.joemontanafanclub.com/
) It's interesting that Joe's mother name is also spelled the same way as
Theresa's.
I could not
resist the temptation of bidding and then winning the weekend at the Seascape Resort at
Aptos ( http://www.infopoint.com/sc/lodging/seascape/index.html
) Jan Hutchins, as the live auction auctioneer, is very persuasive :-) Who can say
no to a weekend at Monterey Bay, with chocolate and champagne to boot? :-) I have not
gotten Theresa anything for Valentine yet; I wonder if this counts? :-)
Tony Granato (#21 Right Wing) of San Jose Sharks saying 1:
"See, here is Jeff Friesen's, #39 Left Wing, autograph;" 2: "Believe me,
this is a real bargain; " or 3: "I'm very proud of my blood stain on this hockey
stick!" :-)
What a wonderful gala event we had!
