Rondo the Carmel Beach Bum
Theresa and I have always enjoy going to Carmel ever since we first started
dating. In the past year we have found this place that allows dog, so we have
been bring Rondo to Carmel about every 2-3 months. So on Friday night Theresa
and I packed up and drove down with Rondo. In fact, we also brought our Sun
Conure Sunkiss along.

After 1.5 hours of driving, we arrived in Carmel. We rewarded ourselves with
some gelato ice cream before going to bed.
The next morning we had breakfast in our room. We had quiche, pastry rolls,
orange juice, fresh fruit, coffee, and tea. Rondo had to be satisfied with his
usual ration of vegetarian dog food.
Sunkiss ate a piece of melon. Rondo wanted Sunkiss to drop him some food, but
Sunkiss knew better.
Rondo has became accustomed to staying at Forest Lodge.
Rondo's favorite room is the Manor House, because he gets to run around in this
large room.
One of Rondo's favorite activities is to look for strangers or dogs in the
garden so he can bark at them.
We took Rondo out for a walk. Rondo always likes to take us to this delicatessen
that has this 5-feet tall sausage. I think that sausage has been hanging there
for many years. Rondo will be in heaven if he ever gets to eat that whole thing!
Rondo tried to look for Clint Eastwood at Hog's Breath Inn. He had no luck as
Hog's Breath Inn restaurant has been closed for business for a while.
Rondo was patiently waiting for Theresa as she was browsing in Tucano, one of
her favorite clothing stores in Carmel.
I did a little shopping too as Theresa was waiting with Rondo. Look how excited
Rondo was to see me.
After a nice walk, Rondo came home to rest. As usual he always looks for the
sunniest spot of the whole place to rest. He loves to soak up all the solar
energy. He is quite the sun worshiper.
Rondo's favorite restaurant is Anton and Michel's because he gets to be with us
while we enjoy a nice and peaceful lunch.
Was Rondo looking for handout?
Rondo was actually looking to get some bread.
With those eyes staring at me, how could I not feed him some bread? I skipped
the butter, though.
Rondo: "Gee, all I got was bread and water. What are you guys eating?"
Salmon.
Seafood pasta. Life is not fair, especially for Rondo.
To add insult to injury, Rondo was forced to pay for lunch with his credit card.
(No kidding, Rondo has his own Visa card from First USA!)
After another short walk around town, here was Rondo waiting impatiently for
Theresa while she was getting an espresso drink.
Rondo was happy to take an afternoon nap in our room. However, he was quite
excited to see a bride getting into a limo right after her wedding at the church
in front of our inn.
Rondo always wonders why I always like to shop for candles in Carmel. He at
least appreciates the nice smell when a fragrant candle is burning.
The absolute best thing about going to Carmel is for Rondo to run on the Carmel
City Beach while off-leash. He has so much fun running around and visiting each
dog for just seconds.
Rondo was protecting Theresa while she was exploring a mansion at the southern
part of the Carmel City Beach.
Rondo was not able to meet this dog, who was waiting patiently underneath his
owner's dinner table at Grasings. I got dinner to go for Theresa and myself.
Rondo wished to have some of Theresa's prawns on top of pasta.
Of course, Rondo was really hoping to have some slice duck breast from me.
He got neither. At least he got to enjoy the nice fragrance from the burning
candle while he was sleeping by Theresa's feet.

Rondo was envious that I get to have some of my favorite desserts, such as Napoleon
or Chocolate Éclair.
While Rondo was asleep,
Theresa and I played several games of Mah-Jong and enjoyed the fireplace.
The next morning Rondo woke up. Along with our breakfast, he got to enjoy a
piece of Vita Bone.
Sunkiss also enjoyed her extra breakfast of grape and melon.
Rondo wished that he was hanging
out on the beach.
Rondo was reluctant to go home. However, at least he got an early birthday
present from Theresa and I. He got a new bed, so he can dream about being a
Carmel City Beach bum when he is back at Fremont. :-)
