Lungshan Temple
It was the quickest temple to tour
You would think that I took these pictures of Lungshan Temple carefully and
deliberately. You would think that Theresa would have given me all day to
carefully compose each picture in order to capture the essence of this intimate
and colorful temple. Nope. For many years now I know that Theresa has no
patience and mercy when it's time for me to take travel photos. For me it's
"see, point, shoot" and then run after Theresa! We went through this
temple in exactly 15 minutes flat. I was able press the shutter 40 times.
Fortunately I get to slowly enjoy these photos now. No bad for 15 minutes :-)
It's easy to go to Lungshan Temple by taking the MRT. Lungshan, which means
dragon mountain, temple was originally built in 1738. The temple has survived an
earthquake, typhoon, and U.S. bombs during World Word II. Kuanyin Goddess is one
of the most revered goddess in Taiwan in general and at this temple in
particular. We also walked thru Huahsi Street Night Market, but that was during
the daytime so we missed all the fun and excitement at night.
Of course the most disappointment aspect of coming to Taipei was that I was
not courageous enough to drink the freshly pressed sugarcane juice. I just did
not want to get sick on this trip! I really missed the cool and refreshing
drink.
