Hangzhou's Viewing Gold Fish at Flower Harbor Park
It was the most attractive water-side park; it was the longest bus ride
I slept for 12 hours last night after a day of feeling bloated and nauseated
from eating a pear yesterday morning. I certainly felt much better today. I felt
good enough that we chose to go on the guided tour to Hangzhou. We endured a
very long and tedious bus ride that lasted about 2 hours and 40 minute.
Fortunately we were rewarded with a day filled with great picture opportunities.
There is a common Chinese saying "In heaven there is paradise, on earth
there are Suzhou and Hangzhou." We were not disappointed by this well
manicured Huagang Park, which means Flower Harbor. One of the emperors that came
also did a Chinese calligraphy "Viewing Gold Fish at Flower Harbor."
Due to possible drunkenness he wrote incorrectly the word for fish. However,
since an emperor cannot possibly made mistakes so later the spin doctor for the
emperor proclaimed that the mistake was intentional as fish here at West Lake is
so pretty that they should be preserved and not cooked. Whether you believe that
story or not is not important. What was important is the fact that this park on
the West Lake was indeed very photogenic.
