After
a brief but important bathroom break at the Kilauea Visitor Center--it was at
least a 2- hour drive from Kailua-Kona, we walked across the street to the
Volcano House Hotel. What a view! |

The crater in the distance is the Halema'uma'u Crater. |
|
We started our road trip on the Crater Rim Drive going
counter-clockwise. Our first stop was the Steam Vents. This was a good place to
get a steam bath. :-) |

We were right at the edge of the Halema'uma'u Crater. Very stirring. |
|
Theresa noticed some offerings to Pele by unknown native
Hawaiians. |
