Alii Drive

We strolled up and down Alii Drive during the daytime and evening several times during our trip. It was very pleasant as it's right along the Kailua Bay. Here is a webcam. Kailua-Kona is also the location of the Ironman Race. We were very happy that our bed and breakfast is just minutes away from Kailua-Kona. Theresa would tell you that the most important eating establishment in Kailua-Kona is Starbucks--as she started our daily road trip with purchase of an espresso drink!

Exploring the Farmer's Market was delightful. It was a pity that we could not bring back all these exotic flowers and fruits.

I told the cashier at the Hot Rock Cafe on Alii Drive that I envy her because she has a million-dollar view of the ocean for 8 hours a day :-)

We did not actually go to Lulu's but was impressed by the nightly partying crowd.

Mokuaikaua Church was the first Christian church built in 1820 on the Big Island.

Theresa and I did some window shopping. We were both intend to buy inexpensive straw hats for riding in our convertible rental car. (Hi Carol, in case you are wondering why there are two extra hats in your bed and breakfast, we left them :-)

Yes, it's a tradition for us to visit an ABC store in Hawaii. Theresa and I found our hats here. Later on we also bought some chocolate-covered macadamia nuts. Delicious.
