On the second day we had a nice breakfast at the hotel with Mom and Dad Rush, and Theresa's brother John.

vagabound.jpg (42267 bytes) You ask why is the picture of the Vagabound Inn here? 12 years ago when Intel was shutdown for a week due to money problem (can you believe Intel actually had money problems once upon a time?), Theresa and I used the time off for a most memorable southern California excursion. At that time we visited the San Diego Zoo and Old Town. Since we were short on money (remember I was actually getting a tiny unemployment check for a week), we stayed at cheap places. Here is the place that we stayed in. It was memorable because it's right in front of railroad tracks. All night long we were bothered by  trains rumbling by.  It was certainly a memorable trip. It's a shame that pink Fat City has been turned into a Denny's.

We took a very nice harbor cruise. The weather was perfect. No wonder a lot of people like to vacation and retire in San Diego. harbor.jpg (50438 bytes) sailboat.jpg (43226 bytes) We then went to Old Town. oldtown.jpg (47304 bytes) cart.jpg (59945 bytes) There are some interesting shops here, including a Laurel Burch shop here. Theresa used to really like her jewelry. It's too bad that we don't see her stuff much nowadays. For lunch we had not the greatest, but pleasant Italian food at Lion's, which is at wpe05521.gif (14252 bytes)

Look at the dessert  dessert.jpg (42218 bytes) we had at Top of the Market that evening. This is the fancier restaurant that is on top of the Fish Market. We really enjoyed this dinner. It's at 750 North Harbor Drive. On the last day we visited Seaport Village. I bought a pair of red shorts from the Big Dog Sportwear there. They have really some good shirts if you are into dogs and especially St. Bernard.  Here is a picture of Theresa's brother John at Seaport village in front one of the two aircraft carriers. seaport.jpg (45389 bytes)  It's a pity that our trip was too short. We will have to come back soon for a visit to the San Diego Zoo, Hotel Del Coronado, and golf at Aviara, Carlton Oaks, or even at the legendary Torry Pines. We then flew back in late afternoon. Of course Rondo greeted us at the door. He was not a happy puppy because he was home alone all three days. Even though my brother did come feed Rondo, Rondo was still sulking for a week afterwards because he got to spend two sleepless nights without us. But that's another story...

Hope you had a fun trip with us. Until next time,

Have fun! swoo
